Zoe Mawson - Head of School, Heaton Primary School, Haworth Road, Bradford
“I was lucky enough to become involved with David and Sean during a programme to design and implement a different, better and lower cost service creating better outcomes for young children and their families. One of the most powerful aspects was the prototyping and blueprint development. Designing a blueprint made the group reflect about all aspects of the proposed new model. Populating it enabled in depth discussion which also led to the team to prioritise aspects to prototype to support effective service development. Understanding the principles of prototyping made so much sense in terms of promoting best value, which is key in the public sector. We actively use the service blueprint a year later to evaluate the success of our work and continue to move forward; it is a valuable management tool. Service Blueprinting and Prototyping were both enhanced by the enthusiasm, support and challenge provided by Sean and David. After an initial workshop with both, we worked more closely with David. He regularly asked questions, challenged our thinking and pushed us to use the blueprint and prototyping strategy to move forward with our new model. As well as the theoretical side, he happily modelled his ideas by becoming involved in live prototyping days, practically demonstrating his thinking, galvanising members of our team. My work with Sean and David has transferred into other aspects of my role as Head of a large three-‐form entry school. I now challenge leaders to use blueprinting and prototyping techniques while considering development in their areas of responsibility. I cannot recommend their work highly enough.” Dr. Alison Prendiville – Course Director Mdes Service Design Innovation, University of the Arts, London “For the past two years Ordnance Survey’s Geovation Challenge has provided me with first hand experience of David Townson and Sean Miller’s workshops. Their ability to take a diverse range of IT companies and third sector 6ocused6tions through a service design innovation process with very real and achievable outcomes is impressive. The workshops are run with huge enthusiasm and energy and their methods and processes are systematic with very transferable service design knowledge and skills. It is always a great pleasure to be involved in any of their projects; they are very professional and fun with clear goals on what has to be achieved and delivered. The outcomes are always excellent.” Alan Bell - Tata Steel and formerly of Business Link Yorkshire "I first used David to deliver design workshops to our clients for the Design Council's 'Designing Demand' programme in Yorkshire. His ability to engage the audience and present a range of examples to support his point always resulted in 100% positive feedback from delegates. More recently David has worked on a 1-1 basis with SME's in the Yorkshire region to embed design into their business. His flexible approach and ability to work with a business from almost any sector makes him one of the best consultants I have had the privilege of working with. His personable character and expert knowledge always left clients wanting more! Given the choice I would always choose to work with David!" |
